The waterfalls, forested mountains, lakes, streams, and areas of iron rich red soil often come as a surprise to folks visiting Oklahoma for the first time. Understandably so!  What comes to mind first is usually the vast golden plains and prairies with gently rolling hills that dominate most of the landscape. Add in a few herds of bison or cattle and the classic Oklahoma scene is complete. From a history standpoint, Oklahoma is rich in Native American culture, cattle ranching, and agriculture, as well as oil and natural gas production.  But it also boasts one of the longest drivable stretches of iconic Route 66 and an abundance of Rose Rock, the official state rock of Oklahoma.  This fascinating flower-shaped rock formed by barite crystals is found in very few places in the world.

This easy to knit design captures the spirit of the iconic Oklahoma landscape from a lake lined with shrubbery on one side to the red dirt embedded with rose rocks on the other. Golden prairies (with optional oil derricks) under a sunny sky complete the scene.
