If you love caves, you’ll love Missouri! With approximately 7,000 documented caves of all sizes and shapes, Missouri is often called “The Cave State”. Nature’s perfect combination of rainfall, undergroud aquafers, soluable rock, and millions of years has created caves with beautiful formations, waterfalls, rivers, and seemingly endless passageways. Man’s ingenuity has created exciting ways to explore many of them. In the caves of Missouri you can ride a boat or a golf cart past waterfalls, scuba dive to antique mining equipment or simply take a stroll by lantern light as early explorers did. You’ll even find caves that served as literary inspiration for Mark Twain or (according to local legend) a hideout for outlaw Jesse James.
In this artistic and stylized interpretation of waterfalls and caves, three shades of blue represent water seeping through cracks in the gray bedrock. An abstract, yet classic, design.
