As one of the states of New England, Connecticut features amazing fall foliage, quaint villages, rolling hills, and historic buildings, as well as a strong Native American influence, especially in the names of locations. Due to its long coastline and strong ties to the sea, Connecticut was also a leader in wooden ship building for almost 300 years. This history is still remembered and honored today at the Mystic Seaport Museum, the largest maritime museum in the country.

In this design, a wooden sailing ship glides past a coastline of fall foliage. The twisted knit stitches of the water give the illusion of ripples.  Rigging is added using simple embroidery.
